TOPIC: BA20 armored car drawings-building a replica

BA20 armored car drawings-building a replica 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Hi group,

My first posting here.

I have for a long time been very fond of the 1930's/WW2 Sovjet BA20 armored car. I saw my first one «in the flesh» visiting the Parola Armor Museum in Finland in the early 1980's.

I have been thinking for an almost equally long time to build a replica. It's my understanding that the chassis/frame, engine, gearbox, etc. are actually Ford Model A copies?

Many companies make replacement parts, in Europe and in the US, for the Model A, frames, fenders, and most items needed to build a «New» Ford Model A

I need drawings and plans, as detailed as possible, of as many parts of the vehicle as possible.

I plan to use a new frame, new fenders, front and rear springs, instruments, and buy a second hand engine and gearbox.

The bodywork/armor will probably be hand built out of mild steel. I have been contemplating producing a full body kit made of fiberglass once the steel bodied one is finished. The Sovjet Army reenactors in Europe and USA are possible customers.

I have seen pictures of a replica BA64 armored made in one of the Baltic states Estonia, I think.

Any help with the technical aspects are much appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello,
I am plannig to build one BA-20 for me as well.

I bought suitable car to build on — mercedes benz w123. Wheelbase is 2,7 m and that is only 10 centimeters longer than orginal. Car´s engine is in the front powering rear wheels, so as you can see I am trying to get as close as it is possible.

Hope, we can exchange our ideas.

GoranWC51 I sent you an email.
